Here is what some of our staff think about working at EV Operations:
“Everyone is really supportive and encouraging of personal growth and individuality. It’s been so wonderful to be working with like-minded people who are self-motivated to work hard to have a positive impact on the world, while still understanding the importance of a friendly and personal environment. Also the vegan food at the office is second to none!”
– Phoebe, HR Associate
“I appreciate the conscientiousness of my teammates — especially when it comes to communication. I think that’s really important in an increasingly remote way of working together.”
– Andrew, Head of Staff Support
“Working at EV Operations has been very rewarding and motivating. I get to work with people who share my values and, additionally, the team is dynamic and passionate about our mission and solving problems together. Our team atmosphere is very supportive and I have the resources to do my best work. We operate with a high level of flexibility and autonomy, have good management structures, and give and receive feedback regularly.”
– Sara, Executive Assistant to the Managing Director
“Efficiency and prioritisation are what we think about every day. I enjoy this culture of getting important things done and seeking continuous improvement. Fun, fast paced, and never dull.”

“It’s very fulfilling to work in a place that values inclusiveness, flexibility, and cooperation with great colleagues that are clever, caring, and funny. The team is rapidly growing, and so are the opportunities to work on impactful projects and build new systems from the ground up. I’m so grateful when we receive an email from a grantee sharing their achievements and appreciation of our work. Oh, and I love our team retreats, they are fun!”
– Helena, Grants Management System Product Owner
You’ll also be able to meet the team and speak with different staff members during the hiring process.
We set salary based on an internal policy that accounts for prior experience, location, and relevant comparables. We do this to reduce bias, and to allow us to make our principles more transparent to staff.
Our salary levels for a role may vary significantly based on the candidate’s location and prior experience. So, salary ranges may be very wide. We’ve found that when we share a range, candidates often expect a salary towards the top of that range, which sometimes conflicts with our commitment to having a consistent policy for compensation.
This often makes it hard for us to give a realistic general salary range. We aim to pay competitively enough that salary isn’t a dealbreaker for candidates who would otherwise be interested in taking a role with us. Please ask if you would like more information on salary, and we can give you more information based on your location and experience.
We support a global network of organisations, and work with people and organisations all over the world. We’re committed to fostering a culture of inclusion, and we encourage individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences to apply. We especially encourage applications from people of colour, women, and non-binary people who are excited about contributing to our mission.
We’re an equal opportunity employer. If you need assistance or an accommodation due to a disability, or have any other questions about applying, please contact us.
We believe it’s worthwhile to invest significant time in hiring in order to build the strongest possible team. The full hiring process for most roles may look something like:
- Completing the application
- The hiring process for most of our roles involves two initial assessments: A general mental ability (GMA) test and a trial task.
The GMA gives us a rough idea of your reasoning and interpretation skills. We combine this with a role-specific trial task which typically assesses your attention to detail, research skills, efficiency, and prioritisation. Scores for both assessments are always reviewed in conjunction with the rest of the application.
- 20 minute remote interview
- 40 minute Interview with the hiring manager
- 1-3 day work assessment to allow you and us to see what it would be like if you worked at EV Operations. You’ll be able to meet the team, including our Managing Director and the person who would be your manager. This might include a visit to our Oxford office, depending on your location and availability.
- Reference checks
- The employment offer
We aim to adapt our process as much as possible to accommodate disabilities and other commitments you may have.
Interviews help us to learn more about your skills, thinking styles, and accomplishments. We appreciate interviews can be nerve-wracking but rest assured that there will be no ‘trick questions. Consider using the STAR method when structuring your responses. We also recommend reviewing the EA Form beforehand to get a better understanding of what operations within the EA sphere involve and for additional interview advice.
We place a lot of emphasis on hiring, and there are several reviews of your application throughout the process. We aim to conclude each hiring round within 1-2 months. The specific timeline of a role is communicated by email.
We are always looking to improve our hiring processes. If you would like to provide any feedback about your experience of this process, you can do so anonymously with this form. This should take 60 seconds to complete.
